First let's begin with my favorite speech of the convention, the red meat of it with Rudy Giuliani serving as the convention's good humored Zell Miller.
What may really make Sarah Palin qualified to be John McCain's running mate is more than her time as Alaska's Governor or her ability to deliver well timed lines, but her ability to endure and even enjoy the torrent of hate aimed at her by the opposition.
In her speech Palin demonstrated the same happy warrior quality that McCain, Giuliani and Ronald Reagan have and had, As this last week demonstrated it's a quality she will need because the left wing has taken over the Democratic party and backed by an unprecedented level of media partisanship, they are determined not to lose this election.
Their week of hate however wound up backfiring badly, as the confused and hysterical welter of smear stories that the media ran only peaked the interests of Americans, helping Sarah Palin's speech beat the ratings for not only Biden but nearly Obama as well. This was followed by another ratings victory for McCain, despite airing on fewer networks.
Today the media is busy complaining that Palin is a celebrity, but she started out as a candidate, it was their tabloid journalism that made her one.
More interestingly McCain's ratings victory raises the question, whether despite all the media hype, voters weren't more interested in hearing from him, despite Obama's vaunted speechmaking skills. If Obama can't even beat McCain in speechmaking, how can he even hope to win on the economy, which along with a generous shifting of the race card deck, is his next angle.
Meanwhile some conservatives are still upset over Sarah Palin being a working mother. To which of course there is a simple solution, vote McCain, and as VP she'll have plenty of time to spend with the kids.
On the global front, the EU is ready to cave to Russia on Georgia, to no one's surprise. Expecting action from the EU is like expecting Jimmy Carter to to solve the North Korean problem. Again.
Meanwhile in Israel word is that Olmert may be reading Disengagement II, for another act of mass ethnic cleansing of Jews and surrender to terrorism. This even as the phony Disengagement Authority is expiring, without having actually fulfilled its mission or paid out its obligations to those affected.
This time though I think there will be few volunteers and if Amona is anything to go by, it will not go the way of hugs and tears. Olmert's term is as good as over and the struggle for Israel's destiny is reaching a turning point.
In the internet roundup
First an oldie but a goodie over at Canada Free Press links the Obama campaign to ISM
Al Awda’s anti-Semitism has also linked to neo-Nazi groups in promoting the boycott and divestment from Israel on American campuses and in the US business community. It became so virulent that the group was booted by the UC Riverside campus administration from holding an international conference on that campus last year. Ali Abunimah, even today, is featured on the Al Awda website supporting terrorism against Israelis because he considers that “nonviolence is overrated.” In short, Obama saw no problem being lobbied in the past by someone who openly promotes terrorism and discrimination against Jewish-Americans.
Over at IsraPundit, Bill Levinson grades Joe Biden with zero for five on foreign policy.
The Keli Ata blog on McCain's perfect song
Ahhh, what an upbeat way to end the convention! Can you imagine what Mr. Change Obama's people would think of McCain using an African American hit that has the words "changing the minds of pretenders?" McCain threw it back at them! HE'S changing the hearts of pretenders lol. I love this!
It's a perfect song choice for McCain for other reasons. September came out in 1978, just years after the Vietnam War. If I'm not mistaken, didn't the war end in 1975? Vietnam Vets and their friends and family will definitely know the song, and perhaps found hope and inspiration in the lyrics.
McCain has the support of the working class. In fact, earlier this summer I posted a picture of an American flag, tattered an frayed, which had a POW/MIA flag attached to it. Wednesday when I walked the same route to the park I noticed the flags flying at the GM plant across the street from these two flags.
GM had a large American flag flying. Next it were a blue and white GM flag and a POW/MIA flag with the words, "You Are Not Forgotten." I wonder how many Vietnam Vets work at the plant?

Meanwhile, via My Right Word, nails proof that contrary to the claims, Biden did threaten a cutoff of aid to Israel.
Linking Israel and Georgia together, Israel Matzav cites a UPI article that says one of Russia's reasons for attacking Georgia was to take out airfields that Israel had been planning to use to destroy Iran's nuclear capability.
While this is interesting, it comes first from the Saudi controlled UPI and is penned by Arnaud De Borchgrave, a compulsive liar and rabidly bigoted against Israel. When it comes to credibility, Arnaud De Borchgrave has as much of it as Seymour Hersch, another compulsive liar slash journalist, who is particularly adept at making up similar scenarios involving Israeli "commandos" all over the globe.
While it's not implausible that Israel might have thought of using Georgia airfields in a raid on Iran, the piece quickly degenerates into absurd claims of thousands of Israeli personnel in Georgia, that mirror Russian government propaganda.
Atlas Shrugs meanwhile has coverage of how ugly the convention protests got and how ugly they could have gotten with delegate kidnapping on the table
Madgeburger Joe has his take on lessons from the Republican Convention
The GOP should be known as the party that is not afraid of reality on the ground. Republicans should be a party that identifies problems and facilitates solutions. This will put them at a strategic advantage to the Democrats who with good reason are seen as blinded by ideology.
It is poetic that the unborn, who have yet to open their eyes have the potential to open the eyes of the people. It is fortuitous that the developmentally disabled, upon whom the spotlight of public attention was focused, have shown the potential to elicit a compassion that can enrich the life of us all.
Via Jihad Watch, a Hamas linked Islamic "leader" has been allowed to become a US Resident. At least he won't be able to become a US Citizen in time to vote for Obama.
n influential New Jersey Muslim leader accused by some federal officials of having terrorist ties but praised by others as being an important ally won his fight to gain permanent U.S. residency Thursday.
A federal immigration judge in Newark ruled that Mohammad Qatanani, the spiritual leader of the Islamic Center of Passaic County, can remain in the U.S.
Meanwhile Sharia is here as London Councilors were ordered to fast in observation of Ramadan.
Tower Hamlets councillors were asked to "not partake of any refreshments" until Muslim councillors received their permitted evening meal, known as Iftar.
Liberal Democrat councillor Stephanie Eaton said: "This is going too far."
Ms Eaton felt the move was "inappropriate" and "divisive".
She said: "I am quite happy to make accommodation in my working life for my Muslim colleagues but Tower Hamlets residents, and my colleagues, come from all different backgrounds and religions."
She added: "I am concerned that this gives the impression that the council is going to be Muslim-run and that Islam is given special status in the council."
And special status is of course what it's all about boys and girls.

He pretended to be impartial, all the while working to subvert America in favor of a world Communist state, and effectively admits as much, himself.
TY for link, Sultan :)
