The old story was that the Ground Zero Mosque had nothing to do with the location. It just happened to be there to provide Muslims with a mosque.

But that was a blatant lie because there was no Muslim community in the area worth mentioning. The area around Ground Zero is barely residential and mainly caters to the business community. The Muslims who attended the mosque were mostly itinerant food service vendors and a few Wall Street types.

There was nothing there requiring a major mosque, certainly not one that would operate outside business hours.

Now the Ground Zero Mosque is becoming a Museum of Islam. There’s certainly no local need for such a thing. It’s a blatant exploitation of the location.

The original excuse that the mosque was intended for Muslims and just happened to be near Ground Zero has been shot to hell. A museum can be built anywhere. It doesn’t have to be there. It’s there to exploit September 11.

Had the Democrats been able to let go of their obsession with Bush, they would have been able to head off the crisis in Ukraine. Instead they assumed that their relationship with Putin was going well, not because it was, but because the only reason it had ever been bad was because of George W. Bush.

The Russian government understood this dynamic and exploited it. It knew that Hillary didn’t come bearing a Reset Button because she wanted to improve relations with Russia. Instead she needed a tangible demonstration of how she was reversing Bush’s foreign policy failures to prep for her own presidential campaign.

And the Russians played along. They understood that to the Democrats they were only counters in a domestic political campaign and that Washington, D.C. had become a thoroughly unserious place.

Former Chicago Comptroller Amer Ahmad has been taken into custody in Pakistan, where he apparently fled ahead of his sentencing in a federal fraud case in Ohio.

Ahmad, who served as Ohio’s deputy treasurer and chief investment official, pleaded guilty to two counts of conspiracy to commit bribery, wire fraud and money laundering. He was hired in Chicago by Mayor Rahm Emanuel after the crimes in Ohio were committed. Mayor Emanuel has said that he knew nothing about the infractions and that nothing criminal was done in Chicago.

Asked about his former aide’s arrest Wednesday, Mayor Rahm Emanuel said he has been too busy with other issues to spend much time thinking about it.

Wilhelm and Eisenhoffer also acted as “intermediaries” for de Blasio’s mayoral campaign, collecting $165,000 in contributions for him, records show.

If a scientist said, “You must accept my theory, even though it’s completely unrelated to anything involving medicine because I come from Harvard University”, he would be rightly laughed out of every forum there is.

But that’s exactly what Gina McCarthy is claiming. Worse, she’s echoing many anti-science liberals who insist that science isn’t a set of hypothesis that have to be tested and retested against new evidence, but that it’s an undifferentiated mass that you have to accept whole.

So Pepsi has come under various attacks over the years, such as claiming that it’s made out of pig intestines or that a penny from each can is given to Israel.

The story becomes more complicated because Egypt, like most of the Muslim world, is an oligarchy and its economy is dominated by the Egyptian military and the Muslim Brotherhood, both of whom control a variety of civilian companies. A political struggle in Egypt is also economic. Imagine if Tropicana was aligned with the GOP and Minute Maid with the Democrats.

Today’s idiotic call for bloodier combat comes from author George R.R. Martin, a conscientious objector during the Vietnam War, who thinks that drones are too impersonal a method of killing people.

Martin didn’t want to serve in combat, but he objects to anything that prevents American soldiers from dying.

But the funny thing is that Martin and other liberals seem to think that killing people at close range would sensitize us to the horrors of war… while killing people at a distance desensitizes us.

And yet the modern soldier is far more sensitive to the life of the enemy than the medieval soldier was.

There is no nice path forward. There is no magic candidate around, or possible, that can fix things who won't require more conflict. Our situation is one that will either become a Leftist Tyranny or will demand civil strife and drive the Leftists out or underground. If you think smart people can find some other alternative you are choosing to be the weak link in the chain and you put the rest of us at risk. You have no right to throw the rest of us away simply because you want to believe in a fantasy.

The Left will come after you and the other nice people just as they will persecute anyone they see as a threat. The Left will lie about their enemy and nice people on our side will stand aside and watch the target destroyed simply because the target may/may not be in violation of some Mayberry Code of Conduct. You can just as easily be isolated, slandered, and destroyed. The facts won't protect you. Only group resistance will save you.

You must choose fighters and accept the fight so that one day we can return to Mayberry Rules. Stop choosing grey men who seem comfortable, but fail to change the system. The Left is brittle and a little mass resistance will go a long way. But, don't fool yourself, without active resistance there will be no change. This habit of retreating from The Left will ruin us all, you included. Putting off this fight only increases the numbers of us that must fight and the destruction from that fight.
