In the weeks since President Trump took office, federal judges have arrogated to themselves the authority to control how the government spends money, whether the government can issue orders to government personnel and even the content displayed on government websites. Federal judges have claimed that the White House can’t offer buyouts to federal employees, can’t fire political appointees from the previous administrations, can’t pause funding, can’t cut funds to government programs, can’t change formulas allocating government grants and also can’t remove transgender ideology from government websites put there by its predecessors. In 2006, after a Hezbollah invasion, Israel launched a military campaign against the Islamic terrorist group. After a month of fighting, the Bush administration forced a ceasefire under UN Security Council Resolution 1701 that required the disarmament of Hezbollah and its replacement by the Lebanese Army and a United Nations ‘peacekeeping’ force. Saturday Night Live celebrated its 50th season with an iconic ‘SNL 50’ logo, a movie about its past and a struggle to get 1 million viewers under 50 to tune in. Saturday Night, a highly fictionalized movie about the show’s opening night back in 1975, couldn’t even crack $10 million at the box office against a reported budget of $30 million. For its 50th anniversary, the movie celebrating its origins lost $50 million.* 1 million viewers in the theater and 1 million viewers under 50 is all that SNL has anymore. With less than a fifth of the weekly show’s audience being in the 18-49 range, 50 would be on the young side for a Saturday Night Live viewer. No matter how the show chases young trendy stars and musical guests, its usual viewer is closer to Joe Biden’s age than the kids onscreen. The basic difference between the traditional peace process with its ‘two-state solution’ and President Trump’s proposal for Gaza is that the former calls for resettling around half a million Jews while the latter calls for resettling 2 million Arab Muslims living in Gaza. Another difference is that resettling Jews in the hopes of achieving peace has been tried in Gaza. And it failed. While no one has tried resettling the population that elected and still supports Hamas. After President Trump proposed resettling the Arab Muslim settlers currently living in Gaza, there was an outbreak of furious objections from politicians, activists and media outlets. The objections could be roughly divided into the moral and the practical.
