Gov. Newsom’s $750M Gift to Hollywood Donors

Ben Affleck recently complained that California “came to take this industry for granted a little bit.” By that the movie star meant that the state wasn't funding it enough, but that's not for lack of California officials trying. California has a $68 billion deficit, and Gov. Newsom is proposing $375 million in budget cuts for the California State University system, $68 million in cuts for wildfire prevention (even as LA is recovering from the worst fires in history) and doubling Hollywood’s tax credits to $750 million Hollywood, which already benefits from $350 million in breaks, will get $750 million in tax credits even as money is being cut from education, public safety and even wildfire prevention. The entertainment industry would be able to recoup up to 35% of their spending, up from the current 20%, and the subsidies would cover everything from sitcoms to reality shows. The California Production Coalition, whose members include the umbrella trade group for Disney, Amazon,...

The Father of the Constitution Was Also the Father of Tariffs

The Father of the Constitution was also the father of tariffs. Indeed, the first piece of legislation passed was James Madison’s Tariff Act. Madison, known as the Father of the Constitution, saw tariffs as a driving purpose of the Constitution and a sustaining force of the new government. The United States was deep in debt after the American Revolution and its previous system of government had made it impossible to either pay its debts or form a national economic policy. And without it, individual states and powerful figures would be corrupted by British and French agents into manipulating the country and eventually doom the nation to collapse in a civil war. As I described in my book, ‘Domestic Enemies: The Founding Fathers’ Fight Against The Left’, Rhode Island’s radicals had nearly scuttled the Constitution over economic policy. And when the Tariff Act was passed, Rhode Island still had not joined, and some suspected it never would, and instead would go on serving as an entry point...

This One Weird Trick Let D.C. Judges Stage a Coup

The Supreme Court’s ruling in J.G.G. v. Donald J. Trump was not an unqualified triumph for the Trump administration’s deportations of foreign gang members, but it was a definite rebuke not just to Judge Boasberg, but to the entire D.C. Circuit Court shadow government. The ACLU filed J.G.G. v. Trump in defense of five Venezuelan inmates in New York and Texas. All of the men claimed that they were not gang members and there was no indication that any of them were being deported, denying them any actual standing for coming before the court. Especially before Judge James Boasberg who is thousands of miles away in Washington D.C. Despite the lack of standing and the case being filed in the wrong venue, Judge James Boasberg, the chief judge of the D.C. Circuit Court, not only blocked the deportation of all gang members back to Venezuela, but ordered that planes currently over international airspace that were carrying gang members turn around and bring them back to the United States. Boasberg...

Jewish Governor Gives $5M Grant to Mosque That Called Jews ‘Vilest People’

Gov. Josh Shapiro attended an ‘iftar’ dinner at a mosque where an imam had previously declared that “Jews are the vilest people”, and announced a huge grant for the hate mosque. The $5 million grant, described as the largest ever given to a Muslim institution, came only 5 years after the Al-Aqsa Islamic Society in Philly was forced to apologize for posting hateful Islamic sermons by an imam delivered at its mosque declaring that the Arabs were superior to all races, that Jews were the “enemies of Allah” and the “vilest of all people”. The imam also appeared to call on Muslims to take over the world. “By Allah, if faith had taken root in our hearts, things would have been different. We would have imposed the word of Islam upon the world, like those before us did,” Imam Abdelmohsen Abouhatab told the congregation at Al Aqsa. He also quoted a Hadith describing the eventual Muslim extermination of the Jews. The Al Aqsa Society, whose name is the Islamic one for the conquest mosque plante...

Liberal Jewish Groups Fight for Hamas Supporters

Ahead of Passover, the Jewish Democratic Council of America sent out a mailing headlined, “Pharaoh in the White House”. According to JDCA's head Halie Soifer, Trump was the reincarnation of the ancient tyrant at the heart of the Passover story because he was deporting antisemites. "Legal residents and others are being illegally detained and, in some cases, deported without due process. Much of this is happening in our name, ostensibly to “fight antisemitism,” the former foreign policy advisor to Kamala complained. “Even if we disagree with the content of the speech, freedom should mean the same thing for all people, and due process must be granted. Enough is enough of Donald Trump using the Jewish community as an excuse to deprive people of their rights and deport people ‘for their beliefs.'” The beliefs include forcing Jews off campuses like Columbia and UCLA, assaulting Jewish students and faculty, cheering for the mass murder of Jews on Oct 7 and calling for the destru...

California Doubles Fine on White Drivers

Two men are speeding through a construction zone on a California freeway. They have identical speeds and driving records. They’re both stopped and get tickets. One man pays $500 and the other $100. How is that possible? One driver is white and the other is a member of a minority group. This illegal experiment in disproportionate racial impact known as ‘AB-645 Vehicles: Speed Safety System Pilot Program” passed the California State Assembly 62-9 and the Senate by 29-6 (the ‘no’ votes were nearly all from Republicans) before being signed into law by Gov. Gavin Newsom. And the systemically racist program is now being rolled out in LA, San Francisco, and other areas before the two-tier fine system can be implemented statewide. Contrary to its name, AB-645 doesn’t crack down on speeding, instead it actually gives speeders a pass as long as they meet an economic test which will lead to more speeding. And, like many DEI programs trying to bypass Supreme Court rulings outlawing equity-based ra...

Democrats and Republicans Were For Tariffs Before They Were Against Them. Or Vice Versa.

In 1993, Democrats voted against NAFTA by 156-102 and against it in the Senate by a narrower 28-27. Now, Democrats are mourning the death of what they claim is the last vestige of NAFTA. NAFTA had been the work of a Republican president, but few Republicans want to claim it or the mantle of free trade. NAFTA cost Republicans the White House, but Bill Clinton’s embrace of it cost Democrats the South. Clinton had manipulated and misled working class Democrats into believing that he would either reject or fundamentally transform NAFTA and lost the white working class vote. Sen. Chuck Schumer, then a mere member of Congress, had originally voted against NAFTA. When President Trump proposed replacing NAFTA with the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement , Schumer praised the move but still like then Sen. Kamala Harris, voted against it because it didn’t do enough for global warming. “We’re going to fight these tariffs tooth and nail,” Sen. Schumer now vows. Democrats complain that President ...

Sixth Wave Feminism

First wave feminism, which ended with the right to vote, was the only successful feminism out of all the ideological waves that have since then washed ashore on the rocky shores of modernity. Second wave feminism left behind broken families and uncertain relationships that men and women struggle to unhappily navigate while third wave feminism gave us identity politics, Hillary Clinton, the #MeToo movement and abortion as the apotheosis of female identity. Fourth wave feminism took women out of feminism and replaced them with men in dresses while fifth wave feminism dispensed with even the pretense of feminism and instead hollowed out what was the left of the movement and replaced it with radical leftist causes like BLM, Hamas and crushing capitalism. If second wave feminism had been accused of being Marx in a dress and third wave feminism, Marx in a pantsuit, fourth wave feminism was a Marxist man in a dress and fifth wave feminism was Marxism in which the involvement of women was limi...
