No One Actually Objects to Resettling Gaza
The basic difference between the traditional peace process with its ‘two-state solution’ and President Trump’s proposal for Gaza is that the former calls for resettling around half a million Jews while the latter calls for resettling 2 million Arab Muslims living in Gaza. Another difference is that resettling Jews in the hopes of achieving peace has been tried in Gaza. And it failed. While no one has tried resettling the population that elected and still supports Hamas. After President Trump proposed resettling the Arab Muslim settlers currently living in Gaza, there was an outbreak of furious objections from politicians, activists and media outlets. The objections could be roughly divided into the moral and the practical. The ‘moral’ objection was that it was ‘wrong’ to resettle the population currently occupying Gaza, and the ‘practical’ objection was that it would be impossible to accomplish.
