"Ehud Olmert may decide to accept the French proposal for a cease-fire and unconditional surrender to Hezbollah. That is his privilege...
However, one thing should be clear: If Olmert runs away now from the war he initiated, he will not be able to remain prime minister for even one more day. Chutzpah has its limits. You cannot lead an entire nation to war promising victory, produce humiliating defeat and remain in power. You cannot bury 120 Israelis in cemeteries, keep a million Israelis in shelters for a month, wear down deterrent power, bring the next war very close, and then say - oops, I made a mistake...
The day Nasrallah comes out of his bunker and declares victory to the whole world, Olmert must not be in the prime minister's office. Post-war battered and bleeding Israel needs a new start and a new leader. It needs a real prime minister."

after this it's past time for him to go and good riddance
ReplyDeleteah, but who will replace him? Is there someone capable with a mix of religious devotion, military skill and diplomacy waiting in the wings?
ReplyDeleteI can't even begin to express my shock and horror at what Olmert has done to the Land of Israel. I can't find the words.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could say I'm surprised at what Olmert did but I'm not
ReplyDeleteas for someone who can replace him, Olmert has no religious devotion or military skill to replace,
Photos of Olmert show a slack-jawed man who seems mentally "out to lunch".
ReplyDeleteI don't know that Israel has anyone who will do much better.
All of their track records seem poor.
Why do I think he will remain in office? Why do I think not enough Israelis will take a stand and force him out? Could it be the current Israeli track record for spinelessness?
ReplyDeleteI say Olmert needs go NOW. I find it no coincidence that the Hezbos attacked only after Ariel Sharon lay in a coma and out of their way. They knew he would kick their collectives asses back to the stone age.
